It’s always exciting when one of our local clients experiences great success – as is the case for long time client Audeara in their recent announcement of quarterly results. The last year has seen some inspiring advancements for the Australian startup, including awards, overseas expansion, and plans for new projects.

About Audeara

Hearing health is an important factor of physical health, and one that can be easily overlooked. Audeara aims to bring perfect sound and music to people with hearing challenges, by carrying out an easy hearing check via their own app to create a unique personal hearing profile. This intricate profile is then programmed to your headphones to create the perfect audio experience.

MBIP has been working with Audeara to secure patent and trade mark protection for their technology and brand both in Australia and internationally since 2015. The last year has seen some incredible achievements for Audeara, including (but not limited to!) those listed below.

The Good Design Awards 2023

Audeara’s app Audeara Mobile Companion was named a winner in the Apps and Software category of Good Design Australia’s 2023 edition of the Good Design Awards.

Audeara Mobile Companion was designed with Hatch Head and works to perfectly calibrate sound for Audeara’s headphones to an individual’s hearing, ensuring high quality sound. It was carefully configured to be user friendly to older people with hearing loss, who may not be familiar with the technology required for such precise audio personalisation.

The Good Design Awards have been running for 65 years now. Held annually by Good Design Australia, the awards showcase and promote the work of innovative designers internationally. It was thrilling for us at MBIP to see our client receive such well-deserved recognition in the country’s peak international design endorsement program for their outstanding work!

Expansion into Overseas Markets

Audeara has been working to bring their technology to people worldwide, having expanded to sell in the United States, Austria, Hungary, and Singapore. This growth has been achieved through a series of deals with local clinics and distribution partners in these parts of the world, and the company is in talks to enter even more countries in the future.

New Products Being Developed

In exciting news, Audeara’s new Healthy Hearing Earbuds (in-ear technology, as opposed to the headphones they currently produce) have been in the first field trials and client demonstrations, with a view to launch towards the end of the 2024 financial year. This endeavour is being completed in partnership with Clinico Inc (Taiwan’s largest hearing aid retailer). The product is currently being refined and optimised for consumers’ use.

As well as this, a project to incorporate Audeara’s sound personalisation technology into third-party musical instrument products is underway. Mass production is anticipated to begin in the 2024 financial year.

Trade Mark Protection

With overseas expansion and new product lines comes the need for an international IP strategy including strong branding, and protection for that brand. Michael Buck IP can provide assistance in trade mark clearance searches, drafting, lodgement, examination, opposition, and enforcement matters across Australia and other jurisdictions.

If you’re an Australian inventor, innovator, entrepreneur, or business, and you have questions about IP protection, MBIP is happy to help. Contact us using our Book a Meeting form at the top of our website or via phone on 07 3369 2226.
