Two new attorneys join MBIP as 2018 sees our firm expands to five patent and trade mark attorneys, and take up new residence in a bespoke office fit-out within of Brisbane’s Red Hill commercial precinct.
With growth in our firm, our home of four years at Taringa became too small, and in January we moved to our new premises at 159 Musgrave Road, Red Hill – just 4.5km from Brisbane’s CBD. MBIP’s new home is the former Red Hill Commonwealth Bank, a charming Art Deco building that provides the perfect environment for our growing firm. We look forward to welcoming our clients and friends to Red Hill, and we have great pleasure in introducing you to our two new staff members: Geraldine Rimmer (Trade Marks Attorney) and Jeremy Moller (Patent and Trade Mark Attorney).
Geraldine Rimmer joins MBIP as a Trade Marks Attorney, registered to practice in Australia and New Zealand and admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Geraldine holds degrees in Law and Arts (2000) from The University of Queensland, and a Master of Laws (Intellectual Property – 2006) from The University of Melbourne.
Geraldine has worked as a trade mark practitioner since 2001, having previously worked for two Brisbane firms, where she gained experience in trade mark law. Geraldine’s work has involved serving a diverse range of clients including multinational corporations, wineries, cosmetic companies, car manufacturers, food and beverage manufacturers, medical appliance developers and also a variety of local businesses.
Preparing and progressing a trade mark application can often involve subtle issues that if ignored or not properly handled can reduce the value of the resulting registration. Geraldine specialises in the filing and prosecution of trade mark applications both in Australia and overseas to maximise the value of the resulting intellectual property right. Her work involves due diligence, trade mark searching, overcoming examination reports and also contentious areas such as oppositions and dispute resolution. Geraldine is experienced in handling Hearings before the Trade Marks Office and the supervision of trade marks portfolios of companies throughout Australia.
Geraldine enjoys working with innovative clients, assisting them with their branding strategies and general IP protection. She also works with accountants and lawyers who do not specialize in IP, to assist their clients to secure the best possible IP protection and provide guidance on commercial strategies.
