Andy Mukherji has been a registered Patent Attorney in Australia and New Zealand since 2013.
Andy joined MBIP’s founder Michael Buck in 2016 and progressed to Principal in 2017. In his leadership role as Principal, Andy has held a strong focus on strategic business development and recruiting. Andy is experienced in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of medical devices, chemical engineering, materials science, physics and general
engineering. Andy represents a range of local and international companies across these technologies.
In the course of his career, Andy has worked on a wide variety of patent matters. The types of projects that he has been involved in range from traditional materials and chemical technologies in the mining and metallurgy industries to emerging fields such as
nanotechnology and biomedical devices.
Andy provides commercially focused advice to a range of organisations which include Australian, European and US universities. Andy’s work involves advising on all aspects
of patent filing strategies, freedom-to-operate opinions, infringement and validity opinions, due diligence and licensing issues. He has also had experience in successfully guiding
companies through funding rounds, acquisitions and public listing and leveraging value out of patent portfolios
Andy regularly represents clients in patent opposition and reexamination proceedings and is highly sought after by clients due to his advocacy skills in both defending and opposing
Australian patents.
