Client Spotlight: ARROWES Roading Safety – Award Winning Technology
When you’re on a worksite, the wellbeing of those working there can never be a second thought.
ARROWES Roading Safety is redefining safety in road construction, one worksite at a time. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the company utilises varied strategies to create technologies which achieve an overall safer environment for workers on road worksites.
The Automated Cone Truck
ARROWES’ Automated Cone Truck (ACT) is a major step forward in safety and efficiency in the roading industry.
The truck can deploy cones along the road while driving, taking what would usually be a repetitive, strenuous, time consuming, and potentially dangerous job when completed manually by workers, and making it simpler, quicker, and most importantly, safer.
It provides benefits and features which enhance the safety, wellbeing, and efficiency of roading crews. The truck:
- Takes workers off the road in live traffic: By instead having them operate a vehicle, workers are more protected and less likely to be in danger of being hit by vehicles on the road, as opposed to when placing cones by hand.
- Detects surrounding obstructions: As well as ensuring the safety of the operator, the ACT has factored in the safety of those around it. To ensure the safety of anyone crossing on either side of the vehicle, it includes sensors that will immediately cease the ACT’s operations if it detects an object in defined zones surrounding it, which the driver can reset and continue after they have checked the detected hazard/s. Cameras also provide the operator a 360-degree view around the truck.
- Reduces repetitive heavy lifting which can cause long term injury.
- Presents a significant increase in efficiency for roading crews, helping meet deadlines by streamlining what is traditionally a very hands-on process
Award-Winning Technology
The ACT has been lauded by industry and innovation experts, winning multiple awards.
Following the official commercial release of the ACT, it won the Victorian Major Transport Infrastructure Authority’s Director General Award, recognising the innovative technology and the hard work of the team behind it.
In 2023, the National Safety Awards of Excellence awarded the ACT Best WHS Commercial Product or Service Innovation, an incredible achievement which highlights ARROWES’ outstanding commitment to workplace safety and the progress the innovation presents in the industry. The truck has also recently been named as a finalist for the Think2Be Award for Innovation Excellence at the 2024 Moreton Bay Business & Innovation Awards.
