David is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney, as well as a registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney. He has worked in intellectual property since 2014.
David completed a PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, focusing on the synthesis and study of β-silyl carbeniumions.
David’s chemistry background is an excellent foundation for rapidly grasping issues associated with a wide range of innovations, enabling him to develop approaches to most efficiently protect them.
Prior to joining the IP profession, David worked for several leading brands including Dulux, where he spent three years as a Research and Development Chemist. This experience, along with his Commercialization studies at the Melbourne Business School has helped him provide clients with optimum outcomes.
David’s experience in industry and IP enables him to identify important commercial aspects in a client’s idea, and effectively protect them to ensure that they have a competitive advantage over their competitors. David utilizes this knowledge in drafting of specification, filing of applications, prosecution of patent families.
