Otto Saha is a registered Patent and Trade Marks Attorney with a strong technical background in petroleum engineering and extensive experience in the global oil and gas industry. His unique combination of hands-on engineering expertise and intellectual property knowledge enables him to help clients protect innovative technologies through practical, strategic advice.
Before entering the intellectual property profession, Otto worked with one of the world’s largest oilfield services companies as a Graduate Completions and Production Engineer. In this role, he was responsible for identifying and recommending wellbore construction solutions for clients across a range of projects.
He subsequently joined a leading multinational energy company as an Offshore Drilling Engineer, where he was responsible for implementing downhole drilling equipment and technologies for deepwater production wells. During his industry career, Otto was recognised among the top-performing graduate engineers, receiving an Award of Excellence for his contributions to offshore drilling optimisation.
Otto holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Petroleum Engineering) from the University of Adelaide and has developed specialist expertise across drilling engineering, oilfield operations, petroleum production, and gas technologies. This industry foundation provides him with valuable real-world insight into the technical and commercial challenges faced by innovators in the energy and resource sectors.
Outside of work, Otto is driven by a “natural curiosity for how things work” – whether investigating mechanical wristwatches, repairing old tools, or tackling structural DIY home renovations. He brings an enthusiasm for hands-on problem-solving that strengthens his connection with innovators and engineers.
